Education can provide a way out of poverty
English is the national language of Zambia, but many Zambian children grow up speaking only their native language and never make it past the 6th grade. Zambian students test poorly compared to neighboring countries such as South Africa. Only 6 out of 10 children even reach the 6th grade. With only 3 out of 10 being able to read. The lack of education keeps them in a cycle of poverty. The Goal of the ED Project is to help Zambian children learn to speak, read and write English by providing early learning opportunities in village communities. The ED Project's primary focus is the Pre-School education program. This project includes teacher training, collection and distributing of school supplies, books and a nutritional feeding program.
